The program specializes in literary and cultural studies. It has an immersive curriculum in which students are not only given classroom and traditional instructions but also the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures and areas of literature and its allied disciplines, such as cultural studies, environmental studies, and media studies. It intellectualizes the language and the study of literature in that it gives importance to the study of the Literatures of Central Luzon, the Literatures of the Americas, the Literatures of Europe, Literatures of Asia, Literatures of Africa, among others. It is a unique literature program for it is the only degree program in Region III that offers bilingual literary studies. It is specific enough to build a good foundation based on literature-specific disciplinary specialization, yet at the same time leaves ample room for the students to explore language and cultural studies. Furthermore, it features a strong practicum network in which students can be trained in their chosen future profession.
